Jordan Over Truman

by Nick Wendel

Tim Tebow may throw an uglier pass than the linemen who block for him. He may have the worst collective statistics of any quarterback to ever win a playoff game.

But people want to be Tim Tebow.

Barack Obama has more power, but you don't see high schoolers getting suspended for "Obama-ing." America boasts thousands richer than Tebow, but they haven't ever trended on Twitter.

Why do the kings of sport take precedence over heroes in other walks of life? Why would Americans rather have dinner with Michael J. Jordan than Harry S. Truman?

The allure of athletics and the power they hold over so many people remains a logical mystery. Why do fans take their shirts off and spend an afternoon at Soldier Field in January?
